| Pet Of The Month - Cynder Bear Cynder Bear is a Black Chow Chow who I met many years ago. Her owner, Bethany, is a very close friend of mine who lived in Bradford, VT. I first came to know Cynder when I would go visit my friend in Bradford. Cynder, like most Chows, was very protective of her owner and didn't make friends with me right off. A few years back, Cynder and her owner moved to this area. It was at this time that Cynder and I became very close. I began taking care of Cynder at my house when my friend would go away. Cynder had some anxiety when her mom would leave her, but she soon became comfortable at my house and grew to really like staying with me. I took care of her on many occasions and even worked up to being able to groom her. I earned her trust and our bond really grew strong. I gave Cynder the nickname : Cyndee. She developed friendships with my dogs and cats. Cynder really seemed to be enjoying life in this area. Her mom works at a local Veterinary hospital and took Cyndee to work with her everyday. Cyndee lived out on the islands with her mom, Bethany, her mom's companion, Shawn, and her two cat friends Simon & Pheobee. About 8 months ago, Bethany called me and let me know that Cyndee's kidneys were failing. Being a veterinary technician, she caught it early and began many different types of treatments. Her owner did an excellent job of taking care of Cyndee during her illness. Cyndee's health improved and she managed very well considering her condition. Two weekends ago I cared for Cyndee at my house for a couple days. She was still happy and enjoyed her stay, but she was having a hard time getting around. Her health continued to fail. Cynder passed away on April 29th after 13 years of life. I'll never forget Cynder Bear! She was a beautiful girl who will always live on in the hearts of those who loved her. ~Martin Miles |
